The residential work our electricians carry out most often. Each job is scoped, quoted and tested.

Old fuse boards replaced with circuit breakers and safety switches, with space for new circuits.
LED & feature lighting
Downlights, pendants, wall lights and joinery lighting, positioned and switched to suit each room.
Power points & new circuits
Extra double and USB outlets, and dedicated circuits for ovens, cooktops and appliances.
Renovation wiring & rewires
Rough-in while walls are open and fit-off once the room is finished; rewires planned room by room.
Bathroom electrical
Heat, fan and light units, exhaust fans, heated towel rails and niche or mirror lighting.
Garden, path & deck lighting
Weatherproof fittings for steps, paths and gardens, on timers or sensors if you like.
EV charger circuits
A dedicated, protected circuit for a wall charger after checking the board and supply.
Fault finding & repairs
Tripping safety switches, dead circuits and damaged fittings tested and repaired.
Planning a kitchen, bathroom or extension?
The electrical side of a renovation is easiest when it is planned early. We rough in cables, switch positions and appliance circuits while the walls and ceilings are open, then return to fit off once plastering and painting are done.
We can work with your builder’s program, and we check the existing switchboard has the capacity and protection for the new circuits before quoting.
Oven, cooktop and rangehood circuits
Pendants, downlights and bench lighting
Bathroom heat, fan and light units
Extra power and data where you need it
Is your switchboard still using old fuses?
Many established Melbourne homes still have switchboards with rewireable fuses and few or no safety switches. An upgrade replaces them with circuit breakers and RCD protection on power and lighting circuits.
It is often done before adding air conditioning, an EV charger or a new kitchen, because older boards may not have the space or protection for new circuits. We inspect the board and explain the options first.

Residential electrical questions
Do you work on apartments as well as houses?
Yes. Work inside your own apartment is usually straightforward. Anything on common property or shared switchboards generally needs the owners corporation to approve it first.
How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?
Rewireable fuses, no safety switches, a board that keeps tripping or has no room for new circuits are common signs. We inspect it and explain the options before quoting.
Can you add power points to an existing room?
Usually, yes. We check the circuit and the wall, then add double or USB outlets where you actually need them.
Can you install an EV charger at home?
We check the switchboard and supply, then install a dedicated circuit for a wall charger in the garage or carport.
Can you work with my builder on a renovation?
Yes. We rough in while the walls are open and fit off at the end, working to the builder’s program.
Can I send photos for a quote?
Yes. Photos of the switchboard, the room or the fittings help us understand the job. Use the quote form or email enquiries@tasktrades.com.au.
