Melbourne’s oldest suburb.
Terraces and busy shopping streets
Fitzroy, in the City of Yarra, is often described as Melbourne’s oldest suburb. Its streets are lined with Victorian terraces and workers’ cottages, with shops, bars and studios along Brunswick Street, Gertrude Street and Smith Street.
Terraces are narrow and often share walls, and many streets are covered by heritage controls, so outdoor unit positions and visible pipework need thought. Check with the City of Yarra if your property has a heritage overlay, and we will plan the installation to suit.
Air conditioning a terrace
In a terrace, the indoor unit usually goes on an internal wall and the outdoor unit at the rear, on the ground, a bracket or the roof, where it can be serviced. Upstairs bedrooms can have their own small split system.

Fitzroy air conditioning FAQ
Where does the outdoor unit go on a terrace?
Usually at the rear — on the ground, a wall bracket or the roof — where it can be serviced. We check options before quoting.
What if my property has a heritage overlay?
Check with the City of Yarra about any requirements for outdoor units and visible equipment. We will plan the installation around what is allowed.
Do you install in Fitzroy shops and studios?
Yes. We install split systems in shops, studios, offices and hospitality spaces.
Can upstairs bedrooms be done?
Yes. Upstairs rooms often get their own split system, with pipework planned between levels.
Is the price fixed?
Yes, for the agreed scope.
